Speaker’s Main Points:
- Started out as a volunteer for UGA basketball camps
- Led to a manager’s position
- Came to Reinhardt as a women’s and men’s club team
- Led to head Reinhardt women basketball coach
- Went to shorter because was a 4 year institution
- Football greatly helped shorter athletics
- Acrobatics and tumbling will be the next big sport
- Try to get a grad assistantship
- More visibility for Shorter in the NCAA division
- Biggest administrative expense is traveling

- What is the grad assistant work like?
- What is it like switching from NAIA to NCAA D2?
- Why is shorter going D2-mainly due to football-needed a 6th team in D2 division and one left the NAIA division
Sport Leadership Information Learned from this speaker:
- When going for an interview: go in having a plan (on what you would do with program)
- Coaching isn’t about making a lot of money
- Look at resources of institution leads to level of success
- Have to like people
- Develop a philosophy
- Don’t do things for people they can do themselves
- Promise less deliver more
- Teach, motivate, discipline, evaluate
